Mission Statement: The Beacon Awards recognize a few of the outstanding individuals who selflessly step up to help fulfill the Shoreline community’s promise as a place of opportunity, wellbeing, and safety for all.

We are honored to gather together each year with so many distinguished members of the community to share the stories of exceptional individuals. As a town-level news organization, we have the unique privilege to write about so many of the people who go above and beyond, making the fabric of the communities in which we live and work. When we started the Beacon Awards in 2013, our goal was to shine a broader, shoreline-wide spotlight on some of these personalities who make our communities the welcoming places they are.

The spirited nominations process that follow that first year – and grew even more in the following years – proved that we weren’t alone in being humbled by the selfless contributions made by some of our most humble neighbors.

Thanks to generous sponsors across the community, we are able to host this wonderful ceremony each year to give the Beacon Award winners a night to relax, enjoy, and spend time with friends and family who are grateful.
